Arbel Bedak is a composer, orchestrator, conductor, and occasional saxophonist. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Composition from the University of California, Davis, where he has studied with composers Sam Nichols, Pablo Ortiz, Ross Bauer, Laurie San Martin, and most recently Kurt Rohde. He served as Student Director of the California Aggie Marching Band and has conducted the Holmes Junior High School 7th Grade Band. He has just moved to Los Angeles, CA to pursue a career in film scoring. He is currently working at Score Revolution.

Oldtimers: Complete!

The next short by Dollars & Donuts Productions, Oldtimers, by Daryl Della, will premiere online on Friday, May 18th. This is my second score for Daryl Della and it was a blast to conceive. Dead Right: Complete!

 

I am very excited to have completed my first film, Dead Right, a film by Daryl Della. I will post a link to the movie when it becomes available, but in the meantime, feel free to visit the Works page to listen to some of the music from my score for the film.

Winner of the 2011 ACF-LA Woodwind Original Composition Competition

In September 2011, Trio for flute, clarinet, and bassoon was selected as a top 7 finalist in the American Composers Forum- LA Chapter's Woodwind Original Composition Competition and scheduled to be performed at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music on October 22, 2011. When the big day arrived, the Third Wheel Trio, a talented local wind trio whose goal is to perform new music, performed mine and the other finalists' pieces for a full recital hall. There were a lot of wonderful pieces performed, and at the end of the concert, the audience was asked to submit a voting sheet with their top three favorite pieces. At the end of the evening, I was announced as one of the winners, along with composers Adrienne Albert and Mitch Glickman. It was a fun and exciting experience and an honor to be recognized and have my music performed and enjoyed!
